Phoenix Wishwing – Secret Pet Guide
Phoenix Wishwing is a secret pet rewarded for completing Tale of the Phoenix, a hidden quest offered by Tarjin the Blind in the Waking Shores. This pet is one of the hidden collectibles players can obtain as part of the Mind-Seeker achievement and its accompanying title.
For this secret you will need to gather multiple items throughout the world:
Phoenix Ash Talisman
To obtain the Phoenix Ash Talisman, collect the following items:
- 1 Glittering Phoenix Ember - Looted from Alysrazor in Firelands during Cataclysm Timewalking.
- 20 Inert Phoenix Ash - Looted from Scorching Elementals and Living Blaze in Un'Goro Crater. Note that this may take a while, as the Inert Phoenix Ash drop rate is low and the elementals respawn roughly every 5 minutes.
- 10 Sacred Phoenix Ash - Looted from Small Pile of Ash found in cooking pots throughout Spires of Arak. The objects respawn roughly every 15 minutes.

Once you have all the required items, speak with Zektar and trade them for the Phoenix Ash Talisman. If Zektar is not present, complete the Spires of Arak storylines up to and including The High Ravenspeaker.

Smoldering Phoenix Ash
You will need 15 Smoldering Phoenix Ash, which drop from phoenix found across the Dragon Isles. The most efficient place to farm them is the Neltharus dungeon, as drop rates in the open world are noticeably lower.
Clear the two rooms to the right leading to Chargath, as shown in the image below, then reset the dungeon. Note that this will likely take a significant number of instance resets.
Tip: As you enter Smoldering Barracks (the second room to the right), list a group in LFG and then leave it. You'll be kicked out of the dungeon after 60 seconds, letting you keep farming phoenix and minimize downtime by not having to run out.
Ash Feather
Purchase the Ash Feather Amulet from Griftah in the Waking Shores and use the item. While the Ash Feather Amulet buff is active, feathers will spawn every 15 seconds on the ground in a 30 yard radius around your character.
Tip: The best place to collect 20 Ash Feathers is the platform above the Obsidian Throne.

Tale of the Phoenix
Once you have 1 Phoenix Ash Talisman, 15 Smoldering Phoenix Ash and 20 Ash Feather, head to Tarjin the Blind in the Waking Shores and complete the quest Tale of the Phoenix to receive Phoenix Wishwing!
